MOL Releases Integrated TCFD TNFD Report; 1^st Ever by a Japanese Shipping Company
- Advancing Environmental Disclosure Combining Data on Both Climate and Natural Capital -

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Jotaro Tamura, Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) today announced the publication of integrated TCFD–TNFD disclosure report, titled "IINTEGRATED TCFD / TNFD DISCLOSURE: Climate and Nature-Related Information Report." This report brings together information based on the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) ^{(Note 1)} and the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) ^{(Note 2)}.

Shipping industry is not only affected by climate change but is also supported by—and, in turn, impacts—natural capital ^{(Note 3)}. Since 2018, MOL has advanced climate related disclosures based on the TCFD recommendations, and in 2025, began promoting nature related disclosures based on the TNFD recommendations. By integrating these two disclosure frameworks, MOL aims to clearly communicate to investors and other stakeholders how decarbonization initiatives driven by its environmental strategy also contribute to the conservation of natural capital. The report also outlines MOL's approach to dialogue and collaboration with stakeholders to address challenges across the entire value chain. The compilation of this report also reflects MOL's commitment to proactive preparation for future disclosure frameworks such as the Sustainability Standards Board (SSBJ) ^{(Note 4)} and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) ^{(Note 5)}.

(Note 1) A task force established by the Financial Stability Board (FSB) in response to a request from the G20. It aims to help organizations understand and disclose the financial impacts of climate related risks and opportunities, and in June 2017 published its recommendations for voluntary disclosure.

(Note 2) An international initiative established to develop a framework for the appropriate assessment and disclosure of nature related risks and opportunities for companies. MOL has participated in the TNFD Forum—a stakeholder group comprising companies, financial institutions, research organizations, and others that supports TNFD discussions and framework development—since December 2022. In January 2024, MOL registered as a TNFD Early Adopter, expressing its intention to disclose information in accordance with the TNFD recommendations at an early stage, and made its first disclosure in fiscal year 2025. (Note 3) Natural capital refers to stocks of natural resources—including the atmosphere, oceans and water, flora and fauna, and soil—that form the foundation for human and business activities. Climate change mitigation measures represent an approach to the atmosphere, one of the key components of natural capital. Shipping industry both depends on natural capital—particularly the atmosphere and oceans—and influences it through its business activities.

(Note 4) The body responsible for developing Japan's corporate sustainability disclosure standards, based on the international frameworks established by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). These standards are being formulated in alignment with the recommendations of both the TCFD and the TNFD.

(Note 5) An EU directive that requires companies to disclose environmental, social, and governance (ESG) information.
