MOL Training Center (Japan)

Up to now, MOL Training Center (Japan) has experienced more than 70 years from the beginning of its creation in Kobe by the former Osaka Shosen Kaisha.

In 1999, MOLTC (Japan) was established at Chiba city when Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Co. Ltd and Navix Line Ltd. were merged, then, transferred from Chiba city to Tamachi in Tokyo in 2004.

In February 2007, it was removed to Asao-Ku, (Kawasaki, Kanagawa), and named MOL Kakio Institute.

LNG Turbine Plant Simulator

The training center is equipped with an in-house full mission LNG Cargo Handling Simulator, LNG Turbine Plant Simulator, and North West Shelf project Simulator. The LNG training simulators are available to all MOL seafarers serving on the MOLNG fleet, and instructors from other MOL training centers.

In March 2007, the LNG Carrier Standard Training Course, a standard training program advocated by Society of International Gas Tanker & Terminal Operators Ltd. (SIGTTO), was certified by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), and the training of MOL seafarers commenced. All the other MOL training centers worldwide have now introduced the LNG Carrier Standard Training Course as one of their offered programs of study.

The Marine Technical College in Kobe arranges training courses for MOL seafarers based on STCW Conventions and the requirements of MOL. In addition, some other institutes in Japan are utilized in the training of MOL seafarers.
